EP. 90 // What is a happiness architect? w/ ALISHA JOY

Today we have happiness architect Alisha Joy on the podcast! Alisha is a gorgeously messy human who shares more in common with you than you might think. When she isn't painting on rocks or wrangling her tiny humans, she likes to write about some pretty amazing and uncomfortable topics: shame, belonging, self-love, vulnerability, grief, jealousy (you know, the fun stuff!) But the thing that really gets her fired up is happiness: how to create it, where to find it, and why we sometimes feel it's out of our reach. (Don't worry, it's NEVER out of our reach. Like, never ever.)

EP 90 ALISHA JOY blog post - Crafty Ass Female.jpg

SUMMARY //

Alisha Joy starts off by explaining to A + K where the term ‘happiness architect’ derived from & the backstory of how she brought her services in this arena to Patreon. They also dive right into why she started painting rocks, what she does with them, and how her painted rocks Instagram account grew to what it is today. HINT: she got a little more honest.

…and speaking of HONESTY, Alisha and the girls also discuss her mantra of “tell the truth faster” and the almost-always lies people say: “It’s not a big deal” and “It’s fine.” Courage and vulnerability, says Alisha, are two sides of the same rock.

EP. 87 // Good Words w/ MEGAN DOWD

Today we have self-described compassionate hardass Megan Dowd on the podcast! Megan is a mentor to creative woman and non-binary entrepreneurs ready to be loud + candid about what matters most. She best known for turning bullsh*t into brilliance using narrative strategy and creative coaching.

EP 87 MEG DOWD blog post - Crafty Ass Female.jpg

SUMMARY //

Megan Dowd starts off by telling A + K about where the ‘has good words’ part of her online identity derived from. They also dive right in to Megan’s morning pages & how daily lists can serve as a scrapbook in and of itself and show you your arc of personal growth.

The girls also discuss dressing for your day as a work from home creative entrepreneur, and Megan’s idea of conscious narrative - taking agency over the story your life writes. “My life tells a story,” Megan says, “…be conscious about it.” About humaning the best you can human.

The evolution of language was also a topic touched on in this episode, and Megan says we can’t use words just because they sounds ‘cute’ or ‘trendy’ when the meaning attached to them has evolved to something deeper.

EP. 65 // WHAT IS & ISN'T SERVING YOU w/ TIFFANY HAN

We are thrilled to have Kristin’s homegirl Tiffany Han on the show today! Tiffany Han is a life coach who teaches smart, driven women how to raise their hands and say yes to all the things they want to do, be, and say without compromising their standards—or their sanity.

65 TIFFANY HAN blog post.jpg

As the host of the Raise Your Hand Say Yes podcast (now in its fifth year with over 1.2 million downloads!), Tiffany is most interested in telling the truth about a life of chasing your dreams—tangles and all. She's been featured by Inc.comsalon.com, and Flow Magazine and has delivered keynotes both domestically and abroad. With a penchant for keeping it real, her work focuses on how women can stop over-performing for the sake of the life that somebody else dictates for them and instead start saying yes to themselves.

Throughout her life, Tiffany has said yes to smart things, big things, and seemingly-impossible things (hello sobriety, starting a business, and having twins!), and along the way, she's learned that the road to a fulfilled life that feels like freedom is paved with bold moves made from deep within our discomfort zones, a vast understanding of ourselves, and a communion with our core values.

Tiffany lives in Northern Colorado with her husband and twin daughters and starts as many dance parties as possible in her spare time (ha!).

SUMMARY //

After a brief intro to Tiffany Han’s website and podcast and content and awesomeness, she jumps right into her story of getting sober. She talks about drinking as not necessarily being a capital ‘P’ problem, but the gentle whisper of something that just wasn’t serving her.

Amanda + Kristin also talk with Tiffany about the common thread she sees amongst the women who take her class and want to see a positive change in their life. Tiffany discusses the ‘knowing’ that most women have about what they want and need coupled with the misunderstanding of how to channel that ‘knowing’ into agency. SO GOOD!

The last topic the ladies discuss is taking an Instagram break, which all three have done or are doing.

FAVORITE QUOTES FROM THE EP //

Tiffany on social conditioning:

“…we’ve all been fed so many bullshit messages…we’ve all been fed these messages of like, ‘WORK HARD, PLAY HARDER’ or whatever…I was taught, you know, you want everyone to like you and the best thing that you can do is be beautiful and sweet. AND THAT’S SOME BULLSHIT, right? …and so I’ve been working really hard over the last dozen years to really unpack that and…since having my girls, what do I want to teach them, what’s most important, what do I want them to know growing up?”
